ENGAGEMENT RINGS – A TOKEN OF LOVE

Stone: When you envision an engagement ring you automatically think of a diamond ring. Diamond – the ‘queen of all stones’ is the most apt for an engagement ring. The white fire will lighten up your life and make your bond strong.
Types:
Solitaire- Many people prefer solitaire engagement rings because of its unmatchable grace and elegance. It is the most popular because of its special features like preference of stone, metal, cut, size, color , shape, and setting.
Art deco ring – For people who prefer uniqueness, this is the choice. It was very popular in 1920′s but has lost its popularity recently due to new inventions in jewelry designs. Stones like coral, rubies, emerald, onyx, and lapis are used in deco rings along with diamonds in asscher or baguette cuts.
Celtic ring – These rings havedelicate knot designs. Different types of knots are used to make different types of Celtic rings that have different meanings. Knot designs come in spiral and geometric symbol that carry historical interpretations and are considered to bring lifetime of love and trust.
Shapes and cuts:
Princess cut: A very popular shape of square cut. Such shape makes the diamonds look bigger than it actually actually.
Round cut- The simplest yet classy cut of diamond. It is most commonly used in diamonds or engagement rings. It is round in shape and brings out the dazzle of the diamonds.
Emerald cut- A very sophisticated rectangular cut and is commonly used.
Marquis cut-It is also round but looks more like an oval because of its two ends pointed out.
Pear- This type of cut is more recommended for necklace and earrings. At the top it is round and pointed at the bottom. This type of cut does not look nice on a ring.
Ring Setting:
Prong setting- Quite popular for solitaire. In this diamonds are kept in metal basket and are set firm by four or more prongs. It is more desirable for bigger diamonds.
Bezel setting- In this a metal band is used which entwines the diamond to keep it in place. It provides good durability but is more expensive than prong setting.
Flush setting- In this a type of setting a hole is created pushing the diamond in and the metal surrounds the diamonds but does not fold over the diamond providing a good protection.
So now you are ready to go and ask the hand of your love in the most royal manner and adorn her beautiful fingers with the perfect diamond engagement ring.
